Englishtown Historic Property

Unique, historic, waterfront – just three words to describe this property recently up for sale.

This 40.5 hectare (100+ acres) property is situated on beautiful St. Ann’s Bay in the community of Englishtown, just minutes from the world famous Cabot Trail. It features nearly 1 km (0.6 mile) of shoreline and is just six minutes from the Trans Canada Highway and twenty-two minutes from Baddeck with its many amenities.

Six and a half hectares (16 acres) of flat land suitable for development.

Unlimited supply of fresh drinking water

Six hundred feet of the shoreline is a granted water lot making development of a wharf/marina possible.

Hard wire, high speed internet access

Cell phone service

The forested section of the property would make a wonderful area for walking trails with spectacular vistas.

You’re just a couple minutes walk from the government wharf where, in season, you can buy fresh lobsters or take a scenic 2-3 hour cruise to the renowned Bird Islands and view a variety of birds including Atlantic Puffins.

Take a ride across the harbour on the cable ferry (free to walk on passengers and cyclists), you can walk on the sand bar that extends into the harbour, maybe even build a sand castle.

If you enjoy bicycling you’re in for a treat! The ‘loop’ around the harbour is about 45km (28mi) full circle. Every bend in the road offers another breathtaking view, spectacular in autumn.

Plan a day trip (or overnight) around the world famous Cabot Trail, four hours by car if you don’t stop but there are many reasons to stop – gift shops, restaurants and scenic look offs.

Visit the famous Gaelic college and gift shop at the head of the harbour. Sign up for Gaelic lessons, piping, drumming and dancing, you can even buy a kilt!

The Bell Bay golf course in Baddeck is just 22 minutes away by car and the Highlands Links golf course in Ingonish is just 40 minutes away. The drives offer outstanding scenery. Both of these courses are among the best in Canada.

Baddeck offers sailing, yachting, lake tours, the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic site, shopping, hospital, banks, hotels, fine dining and many more amenities.

Still looking for something to do back at the property? There’s a field for horses, lots of room for a garden or you can go fishing (salmon and mackeral) or boating. Or you can simply relax, breath in the refreshing sea breeze and watch the tide roll in and out while bald eagles soar overhead.

Englishtown is in Cape Breton, which is part of Nova Scotia, one of the most eastern provinces of Canada and borders on the Atlantic Ocean. The area has many beautiful nature trails, wildlife sightings and flowing rivers. It’s an adventurists haven.

What sets this property apart is its historical and archaeological significance. It is the site of Fort Sainte-Anne and Fort Dauphin. For further information and pictures of the property, please visit our website below.
