'My work is a reaction to the landscape, people, their animals or a anything that inspires me. I work on location most of the time for smaller pieces and I feel this gives me the knowledge and experience to accurately translate photos and sketches into larger studio work. When painting I try to reach a state of mind where my reactions are intuitive and when I do, my best work occurs. Photographic accuracy is not my aim but capturing the essence or spirit of a subject is.

Watercolor makes up my present means of expression, although I have also worked in other media. The spontaneity of watercolor seems to capture the aspect of a thing which best expresses my reaction to it. I hope this experience and feeling is passed on to the viewer.

I have been painting for over 20 years, concentrating more on watercolor over the past eight years or so. I have exhibited locally and regionally in many juried shows and have won awards. I have also had numerous one man, two man and small group exhibitions locally and regionally and am represented by various galleries throughout the region as well as my own studio gallery on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton.

The work I have for sale is mainly original watercolor on 100% cotton paper and I also offer photo reproductions of some of my work on acid free paper with fade resistant ink. These reproductions are limited, signed and numbered. Most watercolors have an image size of 22" x 30" or smaller. Slides and photos of original work are often available to potential buyers.
